C4 Flight Design

The picture below shows a possible version of the upcoming C4 from the light-sport aircraft manufacturer Flight Design. The geometry was given so the main part was texturing/shading, lighting and compositing. Ron Kern helped a lot with his technical support and Robert Dziabel put his work enthusiasm in the background and some compositing issues.

In 2009 I did an Internship at Santa Monica based vfx facility Entity FX. I finally threw some things together which I've finished while my great time in Los Angeles. The brakedown is attached to the vimeo description. Done with Maya, Mentalray and Maya Live.
The great compositing was all done by artists at Entity FX.

Motion Capturing Session

As a part of my diploma thesis I've got the chance to take a closer look at a Motion Capturing System from the Cyberneum facility in Tübingen, which is part of the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics. The XSENSE MVN Suite is a electromagnetic inside-out Motion Capturing solution which is very intuitive to use. I've put the recorded data to a pretty simple done character in Cinema 4D, and rendered out a couple of shots for a split screen comparisment. Thanks a lot to Betty Mohler, Ivelina Alexandorva and Trevor Dodds from the Cyberneum facility for the possibility to get an practical approach. Also thanks of course to my director of photography Anton Wenzel.

Color grading of a shortmovie

My friend Ingo Stößer and some others did their first shortmovie with the title "Hope". I played one of the bad guys with the respirators and also did the whole color grading of the project. It was my first attempt in color grading and I had much fun to learn all the basics and a workflow.

The process was done with Final Cut and After Effects. I attached some single frames and finally the movie on vimeo.

Fruity Love

In the end of 2008 I started creating my first 3d animated shortmovie, it took me about 3 months to finish it. The story is prety simple. It's about an orange which is bored to death and realise now, that he is not alone on his plate.

I never expected to learn so much handy stuff while working on this little peace. It was great to find a good workflow and do things like recording funny stuff in the sound studio.

Meanwhile I've got used to color grading a little and grub out "Fruity Love" again to enhance some things. There is stil a lot of stuff which I want to change, but I don't think that I'm gonna grab the 3d files again, maybe somewhere along the way.

The used programs were Cinema 4D, Final Cut and After Effects. I attached some stils below and also the link to Fruity Love on vimeo.

Hymer Interior

The caravan manufacturer Hymer wanted to show some different variations of a caravan interior on a exhibition . The textile designer Katrin Kern gave me the color and fabric variations which I used in the following two renderings. The main model was from Hymer with some additions from myself. The big parts were texturing, lighting and rendering in 3ds Max and V-ray with the technical support of Ron Kern.

Anyxist Interface

For the Anyxist engine demonstration Florian needed a interface plus navigation elements, so I built up something in Photoshop. My main source was this map from cgtextures.com.

Anyxist - An Adventure

Since.. well.. a long time, two friends and I were working on a "2D Point and Click Adventure" which deals about An from the planet Ceta Reticuli and his crash on a strange blue planet!

In the beginning I was responsible for the graphics and the other guys for the engine/music/sounds - on the story we worked together. That was a couple of years ago. Meanwhile we kind of reactivated the project and made it as a part of our particular study. Florian Pommerening is doing computer science and still responsible for the engine. He got backup from Tom Mayer out of Florian's study course. Ingo Stößer is the man for the music and the sound department, he also developed the basic script of the story. Based on Ingos work I'm currently work on the story as a semester project. Besides I do the graphic part as well, but i'm sure we're going to get backup in this area too after Anyxist is more progressed.

These were the first 3d graphics which I did for Anyxist a couple of years ago.

Broken Sword 2.5

Between 2004 and 2006 I worked on the professional made fan adventure Broken Sword 2.5 where I did several backgrounds with Cinema 4D and Photoshop. The Projekt was finished in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Hirschmann Advertisement Folder

I worked on several 3D Illustrations for an advertisement folder of the company Hirschmann, with the technical support of Ron Kern. It was about the funktion of their technology components in different work situations. Done in Max and Vray.

The cars, robots und people were bought assets. It was about setting up the scene with textures and shaders, built up a light setting and render out the images.

When my brother had the idea to create a blog about the NBA unfortunaltey I was the first person he had in mind according to the design question. We started with a simple layout based on Kubrick, the WordPress default.

After getting known in the scene and more visitors per day it was time to build up a more professional looking redesign.

The "NBA-Blog.de" is now one of the most popular NBA blogs in Germany and my brother started to run advertisement, which required some tweaks on the site again.
